外贸口语自学考试试卷样卷
 
Part One: Self-Introduction (20%)
In this part, you are required to make a brief introduction about yourself, and then answer some questions based on the two topics specified by the examiners. For example:
1)Tell me about your hometown.
2)What do you usually do in your spare time?
 
Part Two: Reading Aloud a Dialogue (20%)
In this part, you are required to read aloud a dialogue with a partner. Student A will read the role of A and Student B will read the role of B. For example:
A:      How old is this factory, Mr. Moro?
B:    Almost ten years old.
A:   How is the business?
B:      Pretty good.
A:   Then why do you want to sell your machines?
B:   I want to sell the old machines only. They are bit obsolete. Require too much labor.
A:   Could you show them to us?
B:   Come this way. (Pointing) These are two cutting machines. Over there, towards the far end of the wall, are ten hemming machines. On their right are thirty-five sewing machines.
A:   Is that all?
B:   No. Down the aisle, in the connecting room, as I'll show you very soon, we have four steam pressing machines.
A:   How long have these machines been in use?
B:   Three to five years.
A:   Are they all worn out?
B:   Oh no. Most of them are still in perfect shape, just need a lot of people to attend to.
A:   Could you give us a demo?
B:   Sure thing. (To a worker) Sophia, come here and show our guests how good our machines are.
(After the demo.)
A:   How much is your offer for this machine?
B:   I'm a very reasonable man. Look, this is the original invoice for this machine. See the original price? And as you're from such a remote country, I'll sell them to you at half of the original price.
A:   Thank you. But as the date of the invoice indicates, this machine has been in use for already 6 years.
B:      You're right. And we usually depreciate our machinery in ten years, so it still has three-fifths of the original value.
A:      My friend (glancing at Mr. Bowen ) told me on our way here that most garment makers here in the States depreciate their machinery in just five years. So this machine is worth only one-fifth of its original value.
B:      That's not the way I calculate.
A:      All right. Very soon we'll find out the main stream practice as we will visit a few more garment makers.
 
Part Three: Role Play (30%)
In this part, you are required to make up a dialogue with a partner for about 3-5 minutes based on the following situation and directions. You are given five minutes to prepare for it before the examination. For example:
 
Student A
You play the role as an importer and you will have a conversation with an exporter (Student B). Negotiate for buying 500 tons of raisins from your partner at the lowest possible price (Suggested price: US$900/ton FOB Shanghai). Your partner, of course, should sell the goods at the highest possible price. You should have some warm-up talk before the formal negotiation, and make a natural transition from the general to the specifics.
 
Student B
You play the role as an exporter and you will have a conversation with an importer (Student A). Your partner will negotiate for buying 500 tons of raisins from you at the lowest possible price. You, of course, should sell the goods at the highest possible price. You should have some warm-up talk before the formal negotiation, and make a natural transition from the general to the specifics.
 
Part Four: Topic Discussion (30%)
In this part, you are going to discuss some business topics with a partner. You will have 30 seconds to think before you carry on the discussion for about 3-5 minutes. For example:
1)Have you taken part in negotiations with foreigners before? If you have, what kind of negotiations were they?
2)Is honesty important in negotiations?
